In his book, Reading the Book of Revelation: Five Principles for Interpretation (Bellingham, WA: Lexham Press, 2021, Pg 14), Alexander Stewart identified five ways to respond to God’s word. They work well when studying any Bible book or topic:

• Repentance: Rev 2:5, 16, 21, 22, 3:3, 19; 9:20, 21; 16:9, 11.
• Perseverance: Persevere (Rev 1:9; 2:2, 3, 19; 3:10; 13:10; 14:12), be faithful (1:5; 2:10, 13; 3:14; 17:14), hold fast (2:13, 25; 3:11).
• Obedience: Keep the commandments and do good works (Rev 1:3; 2:2, 5, 19, 26; 3:3, 8; 12:17; 14:12–13; 22:7).
• Witness: Rev 1:2, 5, 9; 2:13; 3:14; 6:9; 11:1–14; 12:10–12, 17; 19:10; 20:4–6.
• Worship: Rev 4:1–11; 5:6–14; 7:9–17; 8:1–5; 11:15–19; 12:10–12; 14:1–5, 7; 15:1–4; 16:1–7; 19:1–8.
