The Romans Road to Salvation
Described
God’s Story is a record of historical events that teach us about God’s relentless pursuit to save mankind and to redeem His whole creation.
The whole Bible is God’s Story, but that’s a bit much to absorb in one lesson. Several places in the Bible, God’s Story is summarized to help us understand God’s Story and its relevance to each and every one of us.
One of these summaries of God’s Story is found in the book of Romans, commonly called, “The Romans Road to Salvation”. It is a list of selected verses from the Book of Romans that summarizes God’s Story.
Expressed
The Human Problem – Sin (Romans 3:10–12, 23)
- As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.”
- for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
The Penalty for Sin – Death (Romans 6:23)
- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Solution for Sin – Jesus (Romans 5:8)
- But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
The Way to Jesus – Faith (Romans 10:8-9)
- But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Assurance of Faith – Promise (Romans 10:11–13)
- It is just as the Scripture says: “Anyone who believes in Him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Greek: The same Lord is Lord of all, and gives richly to all who call on Him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
