Study Guide
The central point of fellowship is not our focus on each other. The central point of fellowship is our focus on God:
And our fellowship is with the Father
and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
(1 John 1:3c)
As we move deeper in fellowship with God, His DNA (Desires, Nature, Actions) becomes more apparent in our lives. The most powerful aspect of God’s nature may be His love. Love often drives a person’s desires and actions.
1 John 3:1-9 teaches us that the power of God’s love:
- Makes us His child (1 John 3:1)
- Motivates us to purity (1 John 3:2-3)
- Takes away our practice of sin (1 John 3:4-6)
- Takes away our propensity for sin (1 John 3:7-9)
