Study Guide
In the first chapter of 1 John, we are invited to join in fellowship with God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, along with the apostle John.
In Chapter 2, we are urged to abide, to remain in that fellowship with God. According to the key verse in chapter 2 (see memory verse below), there are definite advantages to do so.
How’s your fellowship with God?
Chiastic Outline.
►A chiastic outline presents ideas in a certain order (A, B)
and then repeats them in reverse order (B’, A’).
►The term “chiastic” comes from the Greek letter “chi”
(pronounced “ki”), which looks like the English letter X.
► The outline is indented in the middle,
like the left side of the letter “X”.
►The middle point of the outline (the center of the “X”)
is usually the core message of the outline (B, B’).
