Bible Study Passage

18

As Servants Toward Masters (2:18-25)

 Household servants, be subject to your masters with full respect,

not only to the good and gentle,

but also to the crooked and harsh;

19 for this is grace: if a person is mindful of God and endures sorrow when suffering unjustly.

20 After all, what credit is there if a person endures punishment because of sin?

But, if you endure suffering for doing good, this is grace with God.

21

Christ Our Example (2:21-25)

 For into this suffering you were called, because Christ also suffered

for your benefit,

leaving you an example,

that you may follow in His steps.

22 He did not commit sin,

nor was deceit found in His mouth,

23 who being reviled—

was not reviling in return,

when suffering—

did not threaten anyone,

but instead entrusted Himself to Him who judges righteously.

24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross,

having died to sins,

that we may live to righteousness;

by whose stripes you were healed;

25 for you were as sheep going astray,

but now you turned back to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
