Note to Mentors 

Throughout this process, the Mentor needs to be:

  • a Catalyst: someone who provokes or speeds up a change, action or process. 

AND

  • a Facilitator: someone who makes a change, action or process easier or less difficult; guide, help or equip someone so they can move forward towards an objective or outcome.

Legend

Mission (What disciplemakers are to do)

Engage – To attract or involve someone’s interest or attention.  

  • Goal: To find and create opportunities to share the gospel and see God save some.

Encourage – To give support, confidence, hope or advice to someone so they will do or continue to do something.  

  • Goal: To educate believers in Jesus with the word of God and encourage obedience through their development of spiritual growth habits.

Equip – To supply with the necessary items or skills for a particular purpose.  

  • Goal: To train growing, obedient followers of Jesus to serve others in ways that please and glorify God.

Enlist – To solicit someone’s assistance or participation in a particular activity. 

  • Goal: To recruit and utilize obedient, serving disciples of Jesus in leadership and disciplemaking ministries.

Vision (What disciples are to be)

Love God – (Mark 12:30)

  • “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

Love People – (Mark 12:31)

  • “Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”  

Follow Jesus – (Matthew 4:19; 28:18-20)

  • “Come, follow Me,” Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men.”; Make disciples, baptize them, teach them to obey Jesus 

Tell Others – (Acts 1:8)

  • “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
